General Information and Guidelines for Free Persons
While Visiting The CoP |
|||||||||
| If you are new to Gor, whether as a Free or slave, or even if you are new to mIRC and wish to learn more, let the Ops know. They will be glad to assist you in your learning experiences, even those that are considered Free (enter with a capped nick). If you are unfamiliar with Gor, Free should place an “O” behind your name (example: Nick-O) and slaves should place an “obs” after their name (example: nick-obs).. This is so you will have a pleasant experience while you are with us. Goreans are known to be very tradition- and protocol-oriented and tend to get a little touchy, even testy, at times. This is not only a gathering place for Physicians and Healers, but also the Home of the Administrator and His family. He will not tolerate the peace and harmony of his home being disrupted by anyone or his honor being tarnished. Honor, respect and consideration are required by all in the Home. If someone with whom you have had a problem in the past enters, you are not to air your displeasure in the home. Take it out of channel. In other words, check your attitude at the door! Notice: It is suggested that the Free become acquainted with the slave rules that are in force in the Cylinder of Physicians. Many of the IRCisms that are rampant on online Gor are not tolerated or enforced here. Do not embarrass yourself by forcing the Ops to take action. Ignorance is not an excuse for unacceptable behavior. What is called bratty submissive behavior will NOT be tolerated by the Free. If the person is a submissive but not a Gorean slave, they may say so to an Op, mark their name with an “-obs” at the end, and be seated and ask questions. This is not a formal training facility, per se, but we are always willing to help those that are new. Free… before you correct a slave for her/his behavior, we advise you to read the slave rules and become familiar with what to expect from the slaves in the CoP. For example, first person speech is permitted, as well as greeting the Free with the word “tal” and saying “i wish you well” as a farewell. It was done in the books and is recognized as proper here in the Cylinder. The Main Hall of the Cylinder is to be considered a public place. All are welcomed, but adjust your behavior accordingly in all that you do. There will be no same-sex scening in any public areas of the Cylinder of Physicians. What one does in private is their own business, but do not bring it to the open rooms. The Cylinder Baths are in the first sublevel. It is a place for a more relaxed environment, designed for the Free to be able to kick back. Provisions have been made for both Free Men and Free Women. There is a large ceiling-to-floor tapestry separating the two areas… this is so the free may engage in conversation and yet decorum and the dignity of the Free Women are still maintained. Open scening is permitted in this room, thus the reason it is “invite only.” If you find such things offensive, you may ignore what is typed in channel or you may leave and return to the Main Hall. =============================================================== ASSASSINS’ BEHAVIOUR: If you are an Assassin and are on a mission, you must enter with the mark of a dagger on your forehead and clearly state so in channel. You are to announce your intent to the Ops in the room. It is said, “None will impede an assassin who wore such a marking.” We in the Cylinder will honor the books. But, the legality of the kill will be turned over to the decisions of the Caste of Assassins to pass judgment. Their rules will be honored in this home. *But remember, you are in the home of Physicians and Healers… it is within their right to use their skills and equipment in the Cylinder to save a victim if it is not a clean kill (for besides a home, it is also a fully-equipped Gorean medical facility!). Those that enter as a messenger with a slash on their left temple will be granted immunity. It was done in the books. It will be respected in the Cylinder. =============================================================== We of the Cylinder of Physicians attempt to follow the books as closely as possible, given the inherent restrictions of being online. Many things have been passed from Free to Free, Free to slave, slave to slave, or from reading websites of channels who do not care to follow the books. In time, these practices that are purely an online convention have become an accepted part of online behavior, and then taken as “Gor Gospel.” It is the policy of the Cylinder of Physicians: WE DO NOT SUPPORT CYBERISMS. The following are a list of cyberisms, though by no means complete, that you will not find honored here in the Cylinder (for discussion on these topics, see the link on the Cylinder of Physicians page on the website.): ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An unowned slave was commonly nude on Gor… False In the books, white, yellow and red silk denoted a slave's level of training… False The proper spelling of the word for collar on Gor is ko-lar… False Goreans called the world on the other side of the sun Urth… False It is proper for a slave to address a high born Free Woman as Lady… False There were red, yellow and white sugars on Gor… False A slave may address a Free Man by his name in public...
